ABOUT ICELANDIC HARBOUR
Our mission
At Icelandic Harbour, we aim to assist residents in achieving their highest health and independence within a safe and supportive environment. We believe in fostering a community where everyone is respected, valued, and empowered to live life fully. Our approach to care is grounded in a social model that emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and active participation from residents, their families, staff, and volunteers.
Our care philosophy is about meeting physical needs, nurturing emotional well-being, and promoting a sense of belonging. We recognize that each resident is unique and are committed to developing personalized care plans honouring their preferences, strengths, and life experiences. By encouraging residents to engage in meaningful activities, maintain social connections, and pursue their interests, we help them lead fulfilling lives while enjoying the comfort and security of our community.
Founded in 1947, The Icelandic Care Home Höfn Society is deeply rooted in a tradition of compassion and excellence in care. We are diligently preserving the vision and values of our founders, who believed in creating a place where seniors could thrive in a dignified and supportive environment. Today, we continue to uphold this legacy, ensuring that every senior in our care receives the help, attention, and refuge they deserve.

ABOUT HÖFN ICELANDIC HARBOUR
Icelandic Heritage
Our name, Höfn, means “harbour” or “safe haven” in Icelandic—a fitting tribute to our heritage and commitment to providing a secure and welcoming environment for our residents. This name reflects our dedication to offering a place of safety, comfort, and community for seniors, much like the traditional Icelandic harbours that provided shelter and protection.
Since 1963, we have been proud to offer housing, support, and care for seniors in Vancouver, continuing the tradition of our Icelandic founders. Our community is built on the values of respect, kindness, and a deep connection to our cultural roots.
Our commitment to excellence in care, combined with our deep respect for our heritage, ensures that Höfn Icelandic Harbour is more than just a place to live—it is truly a home.
